Duplex 1.4462 belongs to the family of duplex stainless steels. This steel is characterised by its excellent combination of corrosion resistance, comparable to that of the austenitic grade 1.4404, and strength, about 150% higher than that of the 1.4404 austenitic grades. The use of duplex stainless steels, especially 1.4462 are gaining popularity due to their unique combination of excellent corrosion resistance, resistance to stress corrosion cracking and high tensile and yield strengths. As a result of its high strength, this steel is ideally suited to the constructional industry. The relatively lower nickel content, relative to the conventional austenitic grades, also makes 1.4462 an insteresting alternative from an economic point of view.

Steelinox B.V. supplies centerless ground barsv, in diameters from ø2 to ø 250 mm en lengths up to 13 meter, depending on availability.

We can offer precision grinding to a tolerance of 0,013 mm with a surface finish of Ra 35 ( or better, depending on diameter and grade)

Grinding can be performed on pieces with a minimum length of 2.5 meters. Although it is possible to saw the shafts after grinding, we do not recommend this because of the risk of damage .

Applications: shipping (propeller shafts), hydraulic industry (hydraulic cylinders).

Note: The axes can be aligned to the tolerance specified by you.
